Noise 24/7
Imagine a constant buzzing or whistling noise in your ears - 24 hours a day. It is called tinnitus.
You never get a break - it is always there. Nobody else but you can hear the noise because it does not come from any external source. Although you are the only person who can hear the noise it is certainly not a result of your imagination.
Many young people experience tinnitus temporarily. For example, for a few hours following a rock concert or any other occasion where loud music is played.
The noise can also result from periods of intensive listening like you would at a long lecture. Tinnitus becomes a serious problem if this noise persists and/or increases.
Normally, the ringing in your ears disappears again, but it may also be permanent. People suffering from tinnitus find it highly disturbing and uncomfortable. |
